Russians in the first quarter of this year made almost 500 thousand checks of cigarettes through the application "Honest sign". The frequency of scans increased by 21% compared to the same period last year, the press service of the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT, operator of the marking system) told TASS.
"Compared to the first quarter of 2022, when Russians scanned more than 383 thousand packs of cigarettes, the frequency of inspections increased by 21% and amounted to more than 464 thousand scans in 2023," the report says.
As noted by the deputy Director General of the CRPT Revaz Yusupov, quoted by the press service, today every ninth pack of cigarettes in Russia is of illegal origin. According to him, these are counterfeit or contraband cigarettes made from unknown raw materials in unclear conditions.
"With the help of the Honest Sign application, Russian citizens have the opportunity to verify the authenticity of each unit of goods without leaving the cash register, and if necessary, send a complaint to the outlet in a few clicks. We see the growing interest of users in checking the quality of goods, this is noticeable by the increase in the number of scans in all categories. At the moment, the application has been downloaded by more than 9.2 million people who have checked almost 120 million products," Yusupov said.
