170 million vapes and electronic cigarettes were sold in Russia in 2024, Evgeny Fedotov, deputy chairman of the commission on tobacco and nicotine-containing products of Opora Russia, told Rossiya 24 TV channel.
According to him, the growing popularity of electronic cigarettes is associated with the trend towards new technologies and the convenience of using such devices.
"Every year we prepare a report on tobacco and nicotine-containing products, here is our estimate for 170 million devices last year, but in any case, this is quite a large volume. If we translate this into the number of consumers, then approximately 8 to 10 million adult consumers are users of electronic cigarettes," said Fedotov.
He added that the demand for e-cigarettes is growing all over the world, even despite the ban on their use in some countries.
