Fines for the sale of cigarettes and vapes may increase to 2 million rubles, the relevant bill was recommended for adoption by the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation. This follows from the Duma's electronic database.
The initiative proposes to increase fines for the sale of tobacco and nicotine-containing products to minors. For individuals, it ranged from 200,000 to 300,000 rubles, for officials – from 500,000 to 700,000 rubles, for legal entities – from 1.5 to 2 million rubles.
By the second reading, the committee of the lower house supported the amendment that the rule would apply to cases where the action does not contain signs of a criminal offense.
In mid-December 2024, the State Duma immediately adopted in the second and third readings a bill criminalizing the repeated sale of tobacco and nicotine-containing products to children. Currently, fines range from 40,000 to 60,000 rubles. for citizens and officials – from 150,000 to 300,000 rubles, and for legal entities – from 400,000 to 600,000 rubles. Under the new rule, repeated violations will be punishable under the Criminal Code.
A convicted person may be sentenced to correctional labor for up to one year with or without the right to hold certain positions for up to three years.
On January 15 of this year, TASS, referring to a draft decision of the State Duma's relevant committee on health protection, wrote that a bill banning the sale of vapes and liquids for them could be considered in March 2025.
