The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation will set a minimum price for nine types of tobacco products by March 1, 2026. This was announced on August 29 on the website of the Ministry of Finance.
"Starting from March 1, 2026, the minimum price will be set for nine types of products — pipe tobacco, smoking tobacco, snuff, chewing tobacco, and hookah tobacco. In addition, a minimum price will be set for cigars, cigarillos, bidi (thin cigarettes made from unprocessed tobacco leaves with an admixture of herbs) and kretek (cigarettes with tobacco and crushed cloves)," the document says.
According to the content of the resolution, minimum prices for tobacco products will also be set — representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, who are tasked with completing this task by February 1, 2026, will take part in this process.
The signed document will make it possible to implement new standards introduced into the federal law "On State Regulation of the production and turnover of tobacco Products, tobacco products and raw materials for their production", approved in May this year.
