President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on fines of up to 500,000 rubles for selling energy drinks to children, and the relevant document has been posted on the official website of legal acts.
The Law supplements the Administrative Code with a new article that establishes fines for violating the rules of retail sale of non-alcoholic tonic drinks to minors, if this action does not contain a criminal offense.
For violation
-
a fine of 30 thousand to 50 thousand rubles is threatened for citizens;
-
for officials — from 100 thousand to 200 thousand rubles;
-
for legal entities — from 300 thousand to 500 thousand rubles.
Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin previously noted that this decision will be a continuation of systematic legislative work to protect the health of the younger generation.
In addition, as previously clarified by State Duma Deputy Alexei Govyrin (United Russia), restrictions on the sale of energy drinks to minors have been in effect in some regions before, but only in some regions have been held accountable for this, for example, in the Moscow Region and St. Petersburg. At the same time, the fines there were significantly lower.
He told RIA Novosti that starting in March, teenagers should not buy energy drinks in stores, as federal law No. 304-FZ of 08.08.2024 came into force, which prohibits the sale of non-alcoholic tonic drinks, including energy drinks, to minors. He added that the adopted law prohibits legal entities, individual entrepreneurs, farms, citizens and persons without Russian citizenship from selling energy and tonic drinks to children.
Govyrin recalled that the buyer can also confirm his age using the application "Gosuslugi Biometria". According to him, this right is secured by the decree of the Government of Russia dated 18.01.2025 No. 15.
