At a meeting on December 19, the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy supported a law banning the sale of tobacco products in circulation without labeling.
As noted by Senator Alexey Sinitsyn, the document is aimed at curbing mass abuses in the use of labeling codes for tobacco and nicotine-containing products. In particular, the parliamentarian clarifies, it prohibits the sale of tobacco products that were in circulation without labeling codes as of June 30, 2020 and June 30, 2021, and subsequently labeled until December 1, 2020 and July 1, 2021, respectively.
According to Sinitsyn, this law is very relevant, since fraud cases in the field of labeling nicotine-containing products have become common in Russia.
"Such non-standard offers regarding tobacco products are appearing on the market that we need to respond faster," said committee Chairman Andrei Kutepov.
