The Accounting Chamber made a proposal to sell confiscated goods if they meet quality standards.
"In order to increase budget revenues, the Accounting Chamber proposes not to destroy, but to sell light and food industry goods, tobacco, cosmetics that meet quality standards," the Accounting Chamber said in a press release following the results of the audit of the exercise of powers to dispose of arrested, confiscated and other property that became the property of the Russian Federation in 2018-2021.
The Accounts Chamber refers to the positive experience of Belarus, where the sale of confiscated goods for nine months last year brought – in terms of Russian rubles – about 1.2 billion.
