South Korea in June this year increased the supply of tobacco and cigarettes to Russia to a maximum of $ 4 million in almost seven years, RIA Novosti estimated, after examining data from the Korean state service.
So, in June, tobacco and cigarettes totaling $ 3.97 million "arrived" in Russia from South Korea, which is 2.3 times more than in May. This was the largest volume of deliveries in a month since July 2017.
At the same time, in the first six months of this year, the volume of Korean tobacco products arriving in Russia increased by 20% year-on-year and amounted to $ 12.3 million. And for the whole of last year, such shipments reached only $ 12.8 million. This dynamic may be due to the fact that last year Moscow did not buy tobacco from Seoul in January, March, as well as from August to November.
According to the results of June, Russia received the most tobacco raw materials from South Korea - by $ 1.2 million. Electronic cigarettes ($1 million), cigars and cigarettes ($880,000), as well as industrially manufactured tobacco and its substitutes ($908,000) were also imported.
The largest tobacco company in South Korea is KT&G Corporation. In Russia, for example, their products of the Blooming and ESSE brands are sold.
