The issuance by tax authorities of special stamps for labeling tobacco products may be discontinued from March 1, 2024. This is reported in the draft government decree posted on the website regulation.gov.ru .
The document was prepared by the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation "in connection with the need to abolish the "paper labeling" of tobacco products and the implementation of "digital labeling" of tobacco and nicotine-containing products," according to the documents posted on the portal.
According to the draft resolution, manufacturers are allowed to apply special labels on tobacco products until stocks are used up, but no later than January 1, 2025. The sale of products marked in this way may be allowed until the moment of withdrawal of the marked products from circulation by retailers.
As reported, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, as part of the transition to digital tobacco labeling based on information from the labeling system, has prepared a draft government decree that provides for the introduction of accounting and control special stamps for labeling tobacco and excisable nicotine-containing products.
