CM approved the rules for handling seized tobacco

The Russian Government has approved a draft resolution regulating the procedure for handling tobacco products seized from illicit trafficking. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.

"The draft resolution, which was developed by the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation to implement the law on regulation of the tobacco industry, was approved at a meeting of the government of the Russian Federation," the message says.

Thus, the law establishes that tobacco products, tobacco products, raw materials, nicotine-containing products and nicotine raw materials seized from illicit trafficking or confiscated, as well as items and equipment used for their production, are subject to export from the place of seizure, storage until necessary research is carried out and subsequent destruction by court decision in accordance with the procedure established by the Government of Russia, indicated by the Ministry of Finance.

It is noted that the draft resolution regulates this procedure for the export, storage and destruction (disposal) of such products. 

In addition, the document clarifies the powers of the services to implement the new regulation. Rosalkogoltabakcontrol has the authority to organize the destruction and accounting of state-owned, as well as seized or confiscated tobacco products, tobacco and nicotine-containing products, as well as raw materials and items used for their production, and the powers of the Federal Property Management Agency and Rosalkogoltabakcontrol regarding the destruction and accounting of said property are delimited.
