Policymakers in the Ministry of Transport support bringing back smoking areas in airports

The Russian Ministry of Transport supports the proposal to bring back smoking areas in airports.

Smoking areas may appear in special “sterile” zones of airports, where passengers are unable to leave the building.   The idea that the creation of special smoking areas would protect non-smoking passengers and staff from the smell of tobacco smoke, as smokers would no longer be forced to smoke in toilets or baby changing rooms.

The idea was proposed by Duma Deputy Sergei Boyarsky, who said that the Duma would consider the draft law to bring back smoking rooms by the end of this year.
